Philosophy

Having entered the fitness industry from the perspective as a client, Matt has a deep respect for the life-changing impact that a personal trainer can have on his clients. As a chubby fourteen year old, struggling to do a pushup for a passing grade in gym class, he discovered a passion for the physical and mental transformation that is possible through proper training and nutrition practices.

With a soft-spot for the most basic of exercises, Matt combines the most primitive of movement patterns with cutting-edge programming to transform the bodies of his clients. With an enormous passion for self-education and practical application of his methods, he is able to give his clients unparalleled results.

Matt firmly believes in a trainer who leads from the front. With years of experience improving his own health and general fitness, adding 50lbs to his small frame, mastering and teaching self defense, getting strong enough to hold state powerlifting records, and becoming lean enough to enter a bodybuilding competition, his clients can be sure that he has researched and employed the most effective methods of reaching a wide range of goals. Whether his clients’ interests involve playing sports at a high level, carrying a child up the stairs, or just wanting to look great in their swimsuits, their progress is often accelerated beyond what they had previously thought possible.

There is no question that a great physique and an athletic body requires consistent and hard work. But rather than working hard for the sake of working hard, Matt employs specific reasoning to support every aspect of the work that goes into the process. The mark of an effective training session has nothing to do with feeling exhausted, nauseous, and causing a lot of muscle soreness. Progress is the only relevant indicator of success, and Matt has developed a system to demonstrate his client’s progress on a weekly basis.

Strength and power training along metabolic conditioning serve to burn body fat, build muscle and strength, and bring the body to its highest functioning level. Balance, coordination, and general body awareness are built upon with carefully selected exercises. Traditional resistance training tools, such as barbells and dumbells, are combined with highly effective and unique training devices that are not seen in commercial gyms. Pulling sleds, sandbags, Olympic lifting plates and platforms, bands, and chains are just a few of the unique types of equipment used to achieve extraordinary results.

In a supportive environment built around proven methods of training and nutrition strategies, the body will excel and reach its peak potential.
